Replacing Myth with Understanding: Highway Wolf Highlights The Red Riding Hood Rescue Project

San Francisco, CA | February 2026… Highway Wolf’s Howling for a Cause initiative continues into 2026 with a spotlight on The Red Riding Hood Rescue Project, a fully volunteer-run wolf and wolfdog rescue in Middletown, Ohio, dedicated to providing lifelong sanctuary for 28 rescued animals. Rooted in education, advocacy, and compassionate stewardship, the organization is working to replace decades of myth and misunderstanding with informed, meaningful dialogue about wolves and wolfdogs.

Their mission extends far beyond rescue alone. For “The Red,” true impact means reshaping public perception through education while ensuring every animal in their care receives the highest standard of lifelong support. Through sponsorships, donations, internships, volunteer opportunities, and social media outreach, they create meaningful avenues for community involvement. In doing so, they foster a deeper understanding of wolves as intelligent, resourceful keystone species vital to ecosystem balance. Their advocacy efforts, including partnerships with animal investigators and Humane World’s Global Animal Disaster Team, work to address critical welfare gaps. With veterinary care as the foundation of their work, supported by enrichment, cooperative training, and specialized nutrition, the organization ensures each animal lives safely and with dignity.

“We are proud to partner with Highway Wolf,” shares Susan Vogt, President of The Red Riding Hood Rescue Project. “What a clever way to have art and advocacy meet!”
