Highway Wolf Highlights Decades of Impact with Wolf Park

San Francisco, CA | May 21, 2026Highway Wolf’s Howling for a Cause initiative continues with Wolf Park, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the understanding, respect, and conservation of wolves. Founded in 1972 by Dr. Erich Klinghammer, Wolf Park has played a defining role in shaping modern wolf research, pioneering the study of pack dynamics and social behavior in a controlled environment at a time when observation in the wild was largely inaccessible. This work led to the development of the Wolf Ethogram, which remains a cornerstone in wolf science and continues to inform research and conservation efforts around the world.

Today, Wolf Park spans more than 100 acres of restored land, where wolves remain at the heart of its mission through ongoing research, education, and public engagement. Through immersive programs and hands-on learning, the organization brings people closer to wolves in ways that deepen understanding and challenge long-held misconceptions, while also supporting a broader ecosystem that includes species such as bison and foxes. Guided by a commitment to animal welfare, academic excellence, and collaboration, Wolf Park continues to inspire a more informed and balanced relationship between humans and the wild.

Wolf Park’s Executive Director, Tracey Thomas, shares, “Wolf Park is grateful for the opportunity to partner with Highway Wolf! Our mission of behavioral research, conservation, and education aligns perfectly with Highway Wolf’s desire to increase awareness for wolf advocacy through music."
