Co-Thriving with Wolves: Highway Wolf's April Spotlight Features Grand Canyon Wolf Recovery Project
San Francisco, CA | April, 2026… Highway Wolf's Howling for a Cause initiative continues with the Grand Canyon Wolf Recovery Project (GCWRP), a grassroots nonprofit founded in 2004 by concerned citizens and conservation leaders working to restore the Mexican gray wolf to its historic range. GCWRP advocates for policies that would allow wolves to naturally disperse into the Grand Canyon region and reclaim their critical ecological role while building genuine grassroots support across the Southwest through community events, public outreach, and immersive Paseo del Lobo habitat expeditions.
At the core of their work is a philosophy they call co-thriving: recognizing wolves as sentient beings with complex social lives and pairing proactive, non-lethal conflict prevention with storytelling that shifts fear-based narratives. Through their Learning from Lobos program, the Lobo Youth Summit, and Pathways to Conservation, GCWRP engages students of all ages alongside ranchers who are actively thriving with wolves, building a future where people and wolves share the landscape together.
"Collaborations like this matter deeply because they remind people that wolf recovery isn't abstract, it's about real families, real places, and shared futures," remarked Claire Musser, Executive Director of the Grand Canyon Wolf Recovery Project. "We're grateful to Highway Wolf for helping amplify stories of co-thriving and care."
Highway Wolf is donating 100% of the proceeds from purchases of their Grand Canyon Wolf Recovery Project 'Protect the Pack' Spotlight T-Shirt' directly to the sanctuary. “Each month, we’re reminded that the story of the wolf is still being written, shaped by those willing to stand in its defense. The work of the Grand Canyon Wolf Recovery Project reflects a rare kind of dedication, one that blends science, community, and compassion to reframe how we coexist with the wild,” shares Amber Morris. “Their commitment to restoring not just a species, but a deeper understanding of its place in our shared landscape is both urgent and deeply inspiring.” Highway Wolf invites music fans and wildlife advocates to support the Grand Canyon Wolf Recovery Project by getting involved, spreading the word, or contributing directly to their mission.
